It is alleged that Terraform Labs (TFL) CEO and founder Do Kwon sent $4.5 million to a top Korean law firm through transfers made in July and August of 2022.
The payment was allegedly uncovered by the financial crimes division of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, which has reportedly been tracking Kwon's finances since official investigations began probing his involvement in the Terra/UST collapse of May 2022.
Sources familiar with the investigation say that Kwon has been sending money to attorneys at a major Korean law firm since the beginning of these investigations.
These payments are also outlined in the official accusation against Kwon placed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for selling unregistered securities, which was released in February 2023.
The SEC claims that Kwon cashed out 10,000 BTC from a Luna Foundation Guard (LFG) wallet by using a Swiss bank account.
It is likely that Kwon has utilized this cash for paying his legal fees and funding his flight from the law.
Kwon was in Singapore when he paid this sum to the law firm. The sum was transferred in several installments in US dollars.
Sources also say Kwon has continued to send funds to the law firm after traveling to Serbia through Dubai in September 2022.
It is likely that Kwon has utilized the services of a US law firm to defend against investigations from the US Attorney's Office (USAO) and the SEC.
<Digital Asset> has contacted Kwon for comment on these payments, but Kwon has refused to respond.
